Summer Skincare & Makeup Must-Haves
0

This summer I’ve been obsessed with wearing as little makeup as possible! Anyone else? I think I’ve finally mastered my “no makeup” makeup look. What I’ve learned is that facial oils & serums are must to achieve a healthy summer glow and this RMS magic luminizer is seriously magic!!

Today I’ve rounded up my summer skincare and makeup must-haves. Many of these products I started using a few months ago after swinging by Blue Mercury in the West Village. The girls in the store were so nice & helped me expand the portfolio of products I now have on repeat. Additionally, I started visting Karine Kazarian in Greenwich Village! The girls who work for Karine are so knowledgable about skincare and have also encouraged me to wear as little makeup as possible!

So here is a breakdown what’s currently working for me:

  • Chuda Hydrating Cream – My #1 must-buy. If you dry skin is a skincare challenge, you can easily solve this with Chuda. A little bit goes a long way and a large jar will last several months at a time.
  • RMS Magic Luminizer – If I don’t feel like putting on foundation, bronzer or blush, this RMS Magic Luminizer is the best product I’ve found to help give me a light, natural summer glow. I also love this lip and cheek tint.
  • RMS Beauty Oil – This is a new-to-me product that I just started using this summer & am so happy with the results. Again, I tend to use this oil when I don’t wear make up.
  • Everything Mascara – Currently using on repeat — with or without makeup.
  • Caviar Stick in Rose Gold – LOVE this product for summer — easy to apply and gives a light shimmer.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Eyeshadow (Marie Antoinette) – One of my girlfriends introduced me to the eyeshadow and am officially addicted.
  • NuFace – I bought this product a few months ago and highly recommend to help with cell turnover.

What are some of your favorite summer skincare must-haves? Xo. Lauren

Safer Skincare: Getting Behind A Movement with Beautycounter
0

If you’ve been following me for a few years now, you know I am dedicated to my skincare routine. I truly believe taking care of your skin is like working out. I love trying new products & skincare lines so when I first heard of Beautycounter and their safer skincare mission I was instantly obsessed!

I discovered Beautycounter after watching a segment on the Today Show where the founder, Greg Renfrew, was sharing more information on the movement they are getting behind – safer skincare. Yes, yes, and yes! In just a few short weeks after the segment, Greg and her team were headed to Washington, DC to meet with congress to work on getting safer skincare laws passed.

Because I am obsessed with skincare, I try to be very conscious of the products and their ingredients. Now I’m not perfect when it comes to clean products but it blows my mind the sheer number of chemicals that are in our everyday products that can be harmful to our skin & bodies! For example, last year I was getting a facial and I was telling my aesthetician my skin was constantly dry even though I believed (and she agreed) that I had a very strong and consistent skincare routine. After numerous questions, we figured out that these Nutragena face wipes were actually the culprit in drying out my skin. I couldn’t believe it! I had been using these for years and now all of a sudden needed a substitute for a product I used every single day. Thank goodness for these!

Why We Need Safer Skincare Laws

Overall I believe there is not enough education or information for us girls coming out of the beauty & skincare industry that shares what is actually going in to our everyday skincare products. Did you know that there are over 1,400 chemicals commonly used in US based beauty/skincare companies that are completely banned in Europe?

Annie from Oh She Glows (if you don’t follow her, you must!) was the first person to ever inform me that skincare products from France are so much better for us then products we can get in the US. As a result, I always try to stalk up on Caudalie products when I’m in France!

And most recently, I learned that there is very little regulation when it comes to the various ingredients companies can use in products. Since World War 2, the US has introduced over 80,000 chemicals and only 10% have safety data — crazy!! The chemicals & ingredients that are in our products have a direct effect and can be tied to chronic health issues — including hormonal issues, infertility & even cancer.

My Current Favorites

Whenever I start using a new skincare line, I always look to incorporate 1-2 products based on what’s currently missing from my routine or what I’m low on to make sure I love the product. The first product that I started using and now I don’t think I could live without is this brightening facial oil – I personally love to use oils underneath my moisturizer to help lock in hydration. If you are going to buy one product I highly recommend making it this one!

Other current favorites include: this moisturizer, this eye cream, this overnight sleeping mask & this cleansing balm! Below you can shop all of my current favorites & check out my consultant page here!

Happy shopping & cheers to safer skincare! <3 Xo. Lauren

My Winter Skincare Routine
0

10-Winter-Skincare-Essentials

It finally feels like winter here in New York and boy do I feel it in my skin. My one main skin challenge throughout the year is dry skin so when the cold winter temperatures finally hit, my skin feels even more dry! I try extra hard during these winter months to keep my skin hydrated. Today I’ve rounded up a few of my key winter skincare favorites I’ve been using on repeat these past few weeks.

skin

  1. Cuadalie Serum: This is one product I’ve been using for years. I’m a huge fan of the entire Caudalie product line but their serums in particular during the winter months enhance the brightness of my skin and also  reduce blemishes caused by the wind.
  2. Chuda Sheer Hydrating Lotion & Chuda Healing Hydrating Cream: Chuda is a new-to-me skincare brand that was introduced to me earlier this year. I can’t recommend both of these products enough. I wear the Sheer Hydrating Lotion with SPF 30 during the day and the Hydrating Cream at night. It’s amazing how moisturizing the hydrating cream is – I noticed a difference even after the first wear.
  3. La Mer Moisturizing Cream: I’m sure you’ve heard by now but this moisturizing cream is a game changer. If you battle dry skin during the winter, La Mer’s moisturizing cream is a must-add to your winter skincare routine.
  4. Ta Ta Harper Regenerating Cleanser & Volumizing Lip/Cheek Tint: My friend Amy introduced me to the Ta Ta Harper regenerating cleanser and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s gentle on my skin, reduces the look of pores and leaves my skin glowing – perfect for these cold winter months! The lip/cheek tint is also a winter skincare must – I’ve been opting for a more natural look during maw work week so I love this product to give my lips and cheeks a little color.
  5. RMS Magic Beauty Luminizer: Everyone is talking about RMS beauty right now. It’s a natural, organic beauty line with a cult-like following. If there’s one product you must buy from this line is the magic luminizer. I personally love it to give my cheeks a healthy glow – again, great for achieving a natural look!
  6. The NuFace Mini: I recently got a facial at Great Jones Spa where the aesthetician introduced me to the NuFace Mini, an at-home micro current device that helps with the collagen reproduction. I’ve been recommending this product to everyone who’s interested in hearing about it. They recently introduced a body product that’s great to help reduce the look of cellulite! Microcurrent mimics this natural current and goes beyond skin deep to tone facial muscles while improving contour and skin tone, and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  7. Charlotte Tilsberry Sheet Mask: I use a sheet mask every single week during the winter – it’s one of the easiest ways to keep your skin hydrated during the winter. I use everything from Charlotte Tilsberry to Sephora’s face mask collection.

2017 Gift Guide Series | The Best Beauty and Makeup Gift Sets To Give This Year
0

Gift-Guide-Beauty-And-Makeup-Gift-Sets-Holiday-Shopping

One of my favorite gift guides to create each and every year is the one dedicated to beauty and make up gift sets! Honestly, this is one of the best times to invest in skincare or make up brands you love as these value sets are truly phenomenal.

In case you’re just tuning in, we’re in the middle of my 2017 gift guide series! So far we’ve launched the top gifts for her, the top gifts for him as well as the top holiday plaid gifts to give this year. My fourth (and personal) favorite gift guide launching today is dedicated to skincare and make up. You can shop each and every gift guide by clicking on the black and white plus sign next to each product in the collage above. Or if that’s too hard, I’ve linked to every product featured below under “Shop The Post.”

After browsing a few of my favorite retailers for the best beauty and makeup gift sets, I’ve come to the conclusion that these below are just too good to pass up. Plus, the single products I’ve linked to (ones not included in a value set) I use in my daily skincare routine and hope you love just as much as I do. Let’s get to it, shall we?

My mom is going to go crazy for this huge lip kit from Sephora – can you believe how many lip glosses, balms and lipsticks are included in this set for $70 dollars? This would make such a good gift or stocking stuffer! I also thought this skin wonderland set that comes with Sephora’s best skincare sellers would be a great starter kit for anyone wanting to enhance their skincare routine. I will be stocking up on this L’occitane hand cream set – you cannot beat this $30 dollar price point. Last but not least, I’m dying to try the new Gucci sent, Bloom – you can shop a 3-piece gift set for $129!

Product Highlights — I’ve used Dermalogica in my skincare routine since I was 25 – this power firm eye cream is the best and this pre-cleanse is great for removing oils and unclogging pores. This Hourglass ambient palette is one of the best for highlighting your cheeks during the holiday season. This Charlotte Tilbery eye shadow palette is perfect for a smokey eye. Last but not least, a new discovery that I’m slightly obsessed with is this Henne Luxury Lip Tint ($21.95 dollars)- it’s a great, clean alternative to Dior’s Lip Glow ($33 dollars).
