It’s that time of year again! My annual roundup of the top blanket scarves of the season is back!!!! This is my third year doing this post and it’s always one of the most popular / most read post all year. Why….you ask? Well, I personally love blanket scarves and they are arguably one of the best accessories for fall. Not only are they stylish, they keep you warm and cozy on those chilly fall days. For my friends who know me well, they know I don’t leave my apartment without an extra layer which naturally means scarves are one of my favorite layering pieces. This year I’ve included some tried and true favorites as well as some new additions. Asos, Zara and Madewell are always my first go-to’s when looking for the perfect blanket scarf.

Fall Wishlist

Fall is in full swing! We’ve actually had great weather here in New York. Not too cold but there is certainly a fall crisp in the air. I’ve started to round up items for my fall wish list. This is just a sneak peak of what to buy for fall. I think I’ll do a full fall wardrobe line up soon but here are some definite items I’ve started to purchase and hope to buy in the coming weeks.
Let’s start with outerwear. I am obsessed. Outerwear is where I think you should most certainly invest during the winter months. If you think about it, you wear your coats day in and day out, especially as the temperatures drop. You might as well invest in outwear options that are both warm and stylish. Insert Barbour coats. Every girl should have one!! I have been such a fan of Barbour for quite some time. I attended their launch event for their latest collection in partnership with Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific this week at Gemma. I want every single piece in the collection. If you don’t have a Barbour yet, I highly recommend the Beadnell waxed cotton jacket. This was my first one and I still wear it all of the time. You also can’t go wrong with any of their quilted jacket options. I also think every girl should invest in a camel jacket. I picked one up two winters ago at Club Monaco and still wear it on repeat every winter.
Next up in the queue for fall shopping: sweaters – cashmere, turtle necks, you name it. I tend to opt for cozy, over sized sweaters for weekend wear and more structured sweaters for work. I picked up this over sized turtle neck from Lands End last year and I have a feeling I will pick it up in additional colors this year. Cardigans are also a great layering option – especially if your cold all of the time like me. I came across this Current/Elliot cardigan on Nordstrom and have added it to my wish list. This ribbed cardigan from Topshop is also a cute option. Speaking of sweaters, J.Crew Factory is offering 50% off this weekend. Perfect time to stock up on sweaters!
From a boots perspective, there are so many I have on my radar. I came across these riding boots from J.Crew. I love the color of the leather and that they also have a small heel. I wore these ‘Chelsea’ booties from Sam Edelman last fall to death. If you haven’t picked up a pair of Hunters yet, I would highly recommend that as well.
Stay tuned for more posts on what to buy for fall! Happy Friday, friends. Xo. Lauren

Project Upper East Side: My Living Room Design
My living room design is underway, people! It’s officially been a month since I moved in to my new apartment and I have to admit, things have been moving a bit slow. I’ve been scouring all of my favorite brands websites, blogs, magazines and Pinterest to try to nail down the aesthetic. Although I think my design will naturally evolve over time, I’m excited to share my initial inspiration board today with you guys.
If you are new around here, last year I participated in the One Room Challenge (which is conveniently happening right now). Although I’m not part-taking in the current challenge, I am excited to document the process with you guys in the same fashion. The main reason I’m not participating this year is due to how long the pieces of furniture I’ve already selected are going to take to ship. There’s simply no way I could get everything done by the reveal week in November! So any how, I still hope you guys are excited to follow along. I think it’s going to be good!!!!
I’ve been working on this inspiration board for a few weeks now. Although I didn’t include every piece of furniture that will encompass my living room, I thought this was a good start. As you can see, I’m sticking with my ever-favorite color scheme: blue and white. I’m also looking to include a ton of natural wood elements. I love both this dinning table and bar stools from Joss and Main (you really can’t beat these price points!!) I’m also so excited to partner with Dash and Albert again on my living room rug – I’ve decided on this one! It’s funny, I was actually trying to get away from a blue rug and opt for a more natural fiber or neutral rug but what can I say? I know what I like.
Here is everything that’s currently on my to-do list for my living room (which literally is everything):
- I need to finalize my couch. This is going to take the longest to ship so this is priority number uno!!!
Dash and Albert rug. Done! Waiting on delivery.- Statement chair. I’ve had my eye on this spindle chair! Thoughts?
- Finalize dinning table and bar stools.
- Finalize coffee table. I’m searching for the perfect marble top coffee table so please send any leads my way!
- Art work for the walls. This will most likely be done last and will be based on furniture.
Fiddle Leaf Fig tree. Done! It’s so cute, I got it at the flower market in NYC for $125 dollars.- TV stand and new TV. Unfortunately my 33 inch is not going to cut it such a large space.
- Entry way console & accessories. It’s been a little challenging finding the perfect entry way console under 38″.
- Must. find. bar.cart.
So that’s all I can think of for now. I’m sure more to-do’s will pop up over these next few weeks! Be sure to check back every Wednesday for apartment updates! I can’t wait to hear what you guys think. Xo. Lauren
