Ralph Lauren is a legendary designer. He is most well known for running one of the most successful luxury brands in the world in addition to designing beautiful clothes. However, I personally love him for his home collections.

If you have ever stopped by a Ralph Lauren home store (my favorite is in Greenwich, Connecticut), you know how detailed and grande these stores can be. Ralph Lauren originally launched his home collection back in 1983, well before major design houses even launched home furnishing lines taking his vision of a stylish life one step further.

My mom (obviously) was the first to introduce me to the designer and of course we’ve picked up a thing or two from visiting the Ralph Lauren home stores so here are 7 decorating tips we can all steal from the legendary Ralph Lauren!

“My wife, Ricky, and I were shopping for things for our apartment, and all the sheets were very feminine and covered in roses. I wondered, Why can’t I get something masculine? So I took the Oxford cloth we were using to make shirts, turned it into bedding, and sewed buttons down the side of the pillowcases.” – Ralph Lauren to Arch Digest

“I felt like just creating the clothes wasn’t enough,” says Lauren, adding, “It’s all an extension of something I wanted in my life—or my dream life.” – Ralph Lauren to Arch Digest

Five. Investing in coffee table books is never a bad idea.

There’s nothing I love more than a little east coast design inspiration. I have been a fan of the design firm Sutdio McGee for quite some time. Shae McGee’s aesthetic is on point and she is one designer I very much admire. Each home she designs includes blues, whites, and a whole lot of print. Yes, please!

You can shop some of my favorite pieces from the feature below.

Home Decor Under $100 Dollars
3

Oh, hello there! Happy Thursday. Who’s ready for the weekend?

Julia and I have dinner tonight with the Vineyard Vines girls and tomorrow I’m not doing anything! Speaking of Julia, did you catch her Coffee Talk feature yesterday? This girl makes me want to go to the Amalfi Coast, that’s for sure.

In other weekend news, one of my best college girlfriends is coming to visit! We bought tickets to Wicked for Saturday night. Checking off another item off my 27 things to do before 28! I just realized looking back at this list, that I really need to step it up in the next 7 months!

Today is one of my favorite features around here: Home Decor Under $100 Dollars.

Decorating doesn’t have to be expensive so today I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite little home decor gems. Enjoy! Xo. Lauren

Trend Spotting: The Dalmatian Print
1

Are you familiar with the dalmatian print? Also known as the Thibaut Tanzania print, I have spotted it (no pun intended) more and more over the past two years from bedrooms to bathrooms to offices. I’ve really become smitten with these spots whether it’s used as a focal point or as an accent print throughout a home.

Similar to polka dots, the dalmatian print really exudes cheeriness and a high-fashion confidence – don’t you agree? They aren’t as formal and well placed as polka dots but still give off a playful vibe. Although I can’t use the wallpaper right now in my apartment since I rent, it’s definitely on my list of must-haves for my first home.

In the meantime, there are many workarounds that still pack a punch. Insert this Furbish Studio spotted pillow case which you can shop for $50 dollars (I also love this Ariana Belle version). This spotted headboard or this skirted storage bench (such a great price point) from One Kings Lane. Another reason why I am so in love with this print is because there are so many great DIY’s to help you incorporate this print into a room on a budget. A few of my favorites include this DIY Spotted Drapery, this DIY stencil wallpaper and these DIY painted pillows.  If you’re like me, and don’t mind a bold statement in a room, you can shop the wallpaper on Thibautdesign.com or the fabric on Spoonflower or Ballard Designs.

Would you incorporate this print into your home? Xo. Lauren
