Weekend Notes
3

Hello, friends! Hi. How as your weekend?

I just got back from Montauk earlier this afternoon. It was a great weekend & just what the doctor ordered, actually. I’ll have another blog post this week sharing some of my favorite local spots but in the mean time, I’m back in New York trying to get ahead of this week as things have been a little slow around here lately. Speaking of which – do you follow me on Snapchat (@laurennelsonny) or Instagram (@_laurennelson_)? I love both platforms to share real time life shenanigans. Aw yeahhhhh.

So since we got back early today (we made the 11:30a train.. winning!) – I can finally take a few hours to rest and recharge. I’m working on some up and coming projects that I can’t wait to share with you all!

Let’s get our link on – shall we? Xx. Lauren

Summer

  • My friends and I hung out at this house yesterday – it’s even more beautiful on the inside. #lifegoals
  • I stopped by a beautiful home store called Gasnett Lane in Montauk this weekend. If you’re in the area – I highly recommend.

In case you missed it on lauren-nelson.com:

  • I stared incorporating a few dermalogica products into my skincare routine – I’m full on addicted.
  • Are you headed to a bachelorette party this summer? Take a peek at Nico and Lala’s new Boutique Bachelorette!

Updating My Skincare Regimen with Dermalogica
3

I think you guys know by now but skincare is one of my favorite hobbies besides blogging and brunching. #truth. Over the past few years I have really upped my skincare routine. I literally cringe when I think back to college when I didn’t “need” to wash my face because I never experienced breakouts. Little did I know the importance of washing my face at the time (thank god that phase is over).

Today I wanted to share a new line that I completely converted to: dermalogica.

The team at dermalogica invited me to experience a treatment at their studio in SoHo. Man, oh man, I have to admit – it was the best hour of my day! Note to self: I really need to start incorporating a facial into my monthly “maintenance” routine. My skin felt so smooth and bright after my treatment I am HOOKED.

Throughout my treatment, my skin therapist asked me numerous questions about my summer skincare routine in addition to which products I currently use. I do have to pat myself on the back because she thought I had a great routine going! Woop de woop!!! My skin therapist did introduce me to several new products that I have since started incorporating into my routine.

Here is a breakdown of which products I started incorporating for my new summer skincare regimen:

  • The first two products: a pre-cleanse and clearing skin wash. The pre-cleanse formula thoroughly melts away layers of excess oil, sunscreen, pollutants and products that build up on your skin (so key when living in New York City!) Their skin wash formula is also on point. I’ve noticed ever since moving to New  York my skin has changed a bit. I don’t know if it’s caused by the pollutants in the NYC air but I make sure to use a gentle skin wash in order to get rid of dead skin.
  • The next two products are a serious addiction: the Firming Eye Cream and the Ultra-smoothing Eye Serum.  The ultra-smoothing eye serum (also a new addition) helps produce collagen and smooths fine lines which is definitely a concern of mine. I then apply their firming eye cream which aids in the natural repair process.
  • Last but not least, dermalogica’s ultra-calming face mist is a MUST. One of my biggest skincare concerns is hydration. I noticed that this past winter was especially rough on my skin. You know that 3 o’clock slump? My skin gets so dry by the end of the day that the ultra calming mist is the perfect product to use throughout the day.

Anywho, I could talk about skincare all day. Be sure to check out dermalogica’s SoHo location for your next facial treatment and you can pick up my new favorite products below.

Happy Shopping! Xo. Lauren

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
5

Hello, loves!

Happy Monday. Taking a break from my usual decor and fashion programming to bring you a life update! If you follow me on Instagram (@_laurennelson_) or Snapchat (laurennelsonny), you probably know I attended the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic the other weekend with my gal pals Gab and Kelly! This was my first time attending and it’s safe to say it has become one of my favorite days of the year!

For those of you who haven’t heard of the Polo Classic, it’s basically a day where prepped out New Yorkers take over Liberty State Park to watch the annual polo classic sponsored by Veuve Clicquot. Thanks to my friends at Veuve, I was able to enjoy the day in the Rosé Garden! The garden was so well done – I was obsessed. Let’s just say Kim Kardashian isn’t the only one with a wall of roses! Plus there was unlimited lobster rolls thanks to Luke’s Lobsters so you better believe we ate one (or two) after a few glasses of rosé.

You may be asking what do girls wear to the Polo Classic?

The event is full of fashion insiders, celebrities, bloggers and influencers alike so it’s safe to say pressure is on when it comes to the Polo Classic! Vineyard Vines sent me the cutest maxi which unfortunately was a little too big so I will be shooting it for another day. However, I didn’t find out I couldn’t wear the maxi until the day before the event so full on panic mode set in on Friday night.

Luckily I had the perfect (but so #basic) French Connection white dress I picked up last summer that I thought would do just the trick for the day. Christy from Crowns by Christy made me the PRETTIEST floral crown that included pink ranunculus, baby’s breath and more that I thought would look perfect with a LWD (crisis averted!).  Side note: if you have an event, shower or wedding coming up, stop by Christy’s site for some major floral crown inspiration! She is so talented. P.s. I let Julia borrow it for some of her photos and they turned out so cute!!

Amongst our group, white dresses, wicker bags and big round sun hats were on fleeeeek. I forgot to take a photograph (I blame the rosé) of my wicker handbag I picked up at a antique store in CT for $12 dollars but it’s one of my favorite purchases to-date and it was the perfect accessory for the day! I was also obsessed with both Gab and Julia‘s wicker bag. Other musts for the day: flat sandals because you have to walk 20 minutes from the ferry to the field. I wore my favorite Sam Edelman sandals (pictured here). Turkish towels to lay on, a mophie for a recharge, and sunnies, of course!

Your Summer Beach Survival Guide
1

You guys, I’m really excited about today’s post. I’m headed to the Hampton’s this weekend so I have been making mental notes of everything I will need to pack. So in anticipation of my weekend getaway, I created my very own (and now yours – I hope!) summer beach survival guide!! There are so many great products included on this roundup – some products I swear by and others I have on my summer wish list. Let’s break it down, shall we?

Wish List

These Illesteva Sunnies are a must! I bought a pair off of Jess last year and lost them during September fashion week. Fail!! So I’m preparing myself to re-buy them for this summer (I just haven’t pulled the trigger yet!). But how cute are they?

Loeffler Randall Slide Sandals. I’m a fan of Loeffler Randall’s entire sandal collection but these slide sandals scream “take me to the BEACH!” I love both the metallic silver and leopard print options.

Beach People Round Towel. Real talk: I tried to buy one of these towels for my trip to Puerto Rico over New Years but they were all sold out! I’m so happy they are fully in stock now and am now very tempted to pick up for this summer’s weekend getaways.

This Tory Burch Blue Beach Tunic. I saw it at the Tory Burch Greenwich Ave store in CT over Memorial Day weekend and sad I did not pull the trigger. There is still time + it’s on sale!

These J.Crew embodied shorts are a must (and they are 30% off).

Obsessing over this wicker cross-body bag.

I’ve blogged about Serena and Lily’s Sling Chair multiple times this spring already and it’s still on my damn wish list!

Products I Swear By

This Lack of Color Sunhat is everything. From weekend wear to beachware, this hat will be your new best friend.

I love, love, love Burts Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes (especially after a day spent in the sun) and Sugar’s SPF chapstick.

A girl can’t survive the beach without her SPF, I have numerous in rotation including First Aid Beauty’s SPF 30 and Cliniques SPF 30 Body Sunscreen.

If you’re headed to dinner after a day at the beach, I love touching up with Nars’ Blush Bronzer Duo!

Someone gave me a Lilly Pulitzer koozie last summer, it’s pretty much the best thing ever in addition to their printed tumblers!

Last but not least, gotta love a baseball cap to help protect your face from the sun! I also picked up one on from this Etsy shop with my monogram.
