Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
5

Hello, loves!

Happy Monday. Taking a break from my usual decor and fashion programming to bring you a life update! If you follow me on Instagram (@_laurennelson_) or Snapchat (laurennelsonny), you probably know I attended the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic the other weekend with my gal pals Gab and Kelly! This was my first time attending and it’s safe to say it has become one of my favorite days of the year!

For those of you who haven’t heard of the Polo Classic, it’s basically a day where prepped out New Yorkers take over Liberty State Park to watch the annual polo classic sponsored by Veuve Clicquot. Thanks to my friends at Veuve, I was able to enjoy the day in the Rosé Garden! The garden was so well done – I was obsessed. Let’s just say Kim Kardashian isn’t the only one with a wall of roses! Plus there was unlimited lobster rolls thanks to Luke’s Lobsters so you better believe we ate one (or two) after a few glasses of rosé.

You may be asking what do girls wear to the Polo Classic?

The event is full of fashion insiders, celebrities, bloggers and influencers alike so it’s safe to say pressure is on when it comes to the Polo Classic! Vineyard Vines sent me the cutest maxi which unfortunately was a little too big so I will be shooting it for another day. However, I didn’t find out I couldn’t wear the maxi until the day before the event so full on panic mode set in on Friday night.

Luckily I had the perfect (but so #basic) French Connection white dress I picked up last summer that I thought would do just the trick for the day. Christy from Crowns by Christy made me the PRETTIEST floral crown that included pink ranunculus, baby’s breath and more that I thought would look perfect with a LWD (crisis averted!).  Side note: if you have an event, shower or wedding coming up, stop by Christy’s site for some major floral crown inspiration! She is so talented. P.s. I let Julia borrow it for some of her photos and they turned out so cute!!

Amongst our group, white dresses, wicker bags and big round sun hats were on fleeeeek. I forgot to take a photograph (I blame the rosé) of my wicker handbag I picked up at a antique store in CT for $12 dollars but it’s one of my favorite purchases to-date and it was the perfect accessory for the day! I was also obsessed with both Gab and Julia‘s wicker bag. Other musts for the day: flat sandals because you have to walk 20 minutes from the ferry to the field. I wore my favorite Sam Edelman sandals (pictured here). Turkish towels to lay on, a mophie for a recharge, and sunnies, of course!
