My Favorite Decorating Tips From Pinterest
1

Pinterest is my go-to whenever I am in need of some inspiration. Whether it’s for interiors, party planning or personal style, there are so many great tips and tricks you can find on Pinterest. Today I’m sharing fire of my favorite decorating tips from Pinterest.

1. Make An Entrance

The entry way is one of my favorite spaces within a home. In my opinion, it’s one of the easiest ways to make a statement and set the tone of your home. I love this colorful photograph as the main focal point in this entry way. The white paneling mixed with the wood frame and bench. Incorporate shoes, hats and coffee table books for a lived-in feel.

2. Up Your Kitchen Style

We all know everyone congregates in the kitchen. Up your kitchen style by mixing the style of chairs or incorporate a bench. I also love layering on a sheepskin blanket on some of the chairs for extra texture within the space.

3. Embrace Greenery

Last year I wrote about how to take care of a Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree but I’m seriously obsessed with them. Incorporating greenery (especially in small spaces) is one of my favorite ways to bring a room alive – literally.

4. Create A Bathroom Retreat

I love perusing different bathrooms on Pinterest. I came across this image below via Domaine Home and noticed how simple it is to create a bathroom retreat. Take a cue from luxury hotels and hang white robes on the wall for a plush vibe. Stack neatly rolled towels within a basket for storage. Incorporate candles to set the mood.

5. Organizing Can Be Pretty

When decorating small spaces, storage is so key. One thing I’ve learned from Pinterest, is that clutter is not pretty. What is pretty is nicely organized shelves and storage units. Floating cabinets are one of my favorite storage tricks in any space. They elevate a room and what’s even better is that you can store so much crap inside of them. Bye clutter!!!

Serena and Lily Spring Favorites
1

Happy Sunday! How was everyone’s weekend?

I spent most of my weekend in Connecticut hanging with Mike. It was nice to catch up on some major R&R after getting back from Paris last week – I have a few more travel posts to share with you this week so be on the lookout!

In the meantime, I was perusing Serena and Lily tonight and came across so many new items that are on point. They have me dreaming of summer – stat! These pinstriped pillows are a must. I’m also loving their acanthus pattern – the perfect pattern to compliment white patio furniture. Last but not least, if only I had space for the Hampton’s All Weather Rug. Yes, please! Happy Shopping! Xo. Lauren

Decorative Accents Under $25 Dollars
4

When it comes to decorative accents, I love pieces that are really affordable. For whatever reason, I have found that decorative accents I bought two years ago, I no longer like. Does that ever happen to you?

So for me, it makes it quite easier to toss or giveaway if I didn’t spend too much on them. Which brings me to today’s Friday Roundup. Decorative accents under $25 dollars. Hellllls-yes.

Target (not surprisingly) is one of my go-to’s for decorative accents under $25 dollars. The only thing that pains me about living in New York is that we don’t have a Target but lucky for my bank account – I don’t just pop in. I browse online. Insert this Threshold Lantern, these decorative sea urchins, or this cute decorative mirror.

Two of my favorite ladies Mackenzie and Martha have online boutiques that house numerous decorative accents at affordable prices. This  mint julep cup vase can double as a pencil holder. This stop and smell the rose print is the cutest addition for your gallery wall. I also am slightly obsessed with bronze urchin that can compliment any coffee table or night stand.

You can shop each decorative accent below by clicking on the black and white “+” sign next to each product. Happy Friday, loves! Xo. Lauren

Blue and White Porcelain
11

Can we please talk about blue and white porcelain for a second?

When we got back from our Newport trip, we stopped by Julia‘s oh so cute Connecticut apartment. Her place is beautiful, of course, but one little detail I noticed everywhere was blue and white porcelain! So thank you, Julia, for inspiring this post!

It got me thinking. My mom also has an obsession with blue and white porcelain, originating from the Ralph Lauren Home store. But you know when your friends have it, it’s all of a sudden “cooler”? I even asked the RL store on Greenich Ave in CT if they sold their blue and white porcelain vases so I could get my mom one for Christmas – sadly, they don’t.

My first reaction to blue and white porcelain is that it is SO traditional. However, seeing the various ginger jars and vases mixed with Julia’s preppy aesthetic has me thinking that blue and white porcelain can provide a traditional twist on a modern home.

I started my research on this historic porcelain and here’s what I discovered: Sh*t can get expensive, there are numerous styles and designs that can easily fit into your aesthetic, and it’s a perfect item to start collecting.

When researching where to buy blue and white porcelain, I came across a few key retailers:

  • Ballard Designs:Not a huge selection but I do love the vases they have in stock.
  • One Kings Lane: From original vintage pieces to modern designs, One Kings Lane has the largest selection online I’ve found to-date.
  • Etsy: Sometimes I find shopping on Etsy to be a pain, but I was pleasantly surprised at how many sellers have blue and white porcelain in their shops. You have to rummage through all of the shops but there are sure to be some great finds.
  • The Bombay Company: I first discovered the Bombay Company through my friend Sue over at the Zhush. They also have a wide selection of blue and white porcelain at affordable prices – in love with this and this.
  • Williams-Sonoma: I’m obsessed with their pieces – Insert this temple jar ($99 dollars), this ginger jar (a little more expensive), and this blue and white swallow tail jar.
  • Amazon: Last but not least, surprisingly Amazon has a few key blue and white porcelain finds.
