It’s felt like spring the past two days here in New York and I couldn’t be happier! With warmer weather in sight, it absolutely makes me want to shop, you?
As a result, I have started my shopping list for Europe and it pretty much contains the following: blush pink, periwinkle, florals and white. Lots and lots of white. So today I’ve rounded up a few pieces I will be adding to my suit case. Have you started your spring wardrobe staple list?
This week escaped me but I did want to share a little weekend recap from our road trip last weekend! Remember when I shared “What To Do In Newport, Rhode Island“? Well, it was pretty spot on, if I do say so myself!
Our quick trip to Newport was definitely worth it. The Ocean Cliff invited Jess, Julia, Marissa, Loren, Jess Kirby and I to stay at their beautiful Gatehouse which is a private four bedroom house on their property. If you stay at the Gatehouse, it also allows you to access the main property’s breakfast and various amenities. It was great because it felt like our own little house for the weekend!
How cute is this wallpaper?
Another fun aspect about our weekend is that our friends at Cadillac were nice enough to let us borrow a white escalade for our trip! Talk about driving around Newport in style!! Although I never thought I would want a big car, the escalade has me thinking twice! It was perfect because we could fit all six of us in the car as we drove around Newport.
On Saturday morning we brunched at Diegos, stopped by Empire Coffee and got a green juice at Raw Bob’s Juicery.
Afterwards we drove up to Loren Hope‘s studios in East Greenwich which was absolutely gorgeous. Talk about a studio with so much design inspiration! It’s a huge sprawling space with tons of natural light. Loren and I also have pretty similar taste I think when it comes to interiors. We both love vintage and refurbishing furniture. Loren has a little living room area with a couch, two vintage purple chairs and a coffee table. It’s so funny because when we first got there, we ended up rearranging the whole space so we could take a photo. Needless to say, I think Loren is keeping the new floor plan!
Oh, and my new motto is blow: Employ Magical Thinking. Found on one of Loren’s employee’s desk.
Needless to say we had a great time!
The white escalade ended up being perfect because I’m not sure what other car would be able to fit all of our bags!
We’re almost to Friday. Yipee!!! Although we’re currently experiencing yet ANOTHER snow storm here in New York (spring, where are you?), I do have some good news! Our ever-beloved Madewell is now being sold at Nordstrom.
Living in New York has actually made me miss living close to an actual mall that has some of my favorite retailers like Nordstrom. The stores on 5th Ave can just be overcrowded with tourists that often times I steer clear. So as a result I do a lot of my shopping online. Can you blame a girl? Nordstrom is one of my go-to’s when it comes to online shopping so I’m very excited about this latest partnership with Madewell.
Much like it did in 2012 with Topshop, Nordstrom will stock a curated selection of items made by Madewell – 70 to be exact. From our classic denim favorites (hello, cute denim vest) to a light navy jacket for spring showers, Nordstrom’s selection is sure not to dissapoint.
Today I’ve curated my top picks from the current selection of products. You can shop my favorites by scrolling through using the arrows next to each image below. Happy shopping! Xo. Lauren
Anywho, Mackenzie has been so fun getting to know this past year. From our numerous boozy brunches (don’t judge) to double dates with our men, we’ve had some serious good times over the past few months. Not to mention, this girl is a serious GO GETTER. Gotta love her for that! Below Mackenzie shares her favorite travel destinations, beauty secrets and more! Oh, and be sure to follow with Mackenzie’s adventures on Instagram. XO. Lauren
A statement mirror works wonders in a small space — my mom gave me an antique quatrefoil mirror when I moved to New York that adds much-needed architectural interest to my white box studio.
Hanging a gallery wall is a great way to add color and interest to your space without spending a fortune on a single oversized piece. I sell art prints starting at $18 that I love switching out a couple times a year!
Only buy what you love. If you truly love something, you will always find a home for it!
What’s on your night stand:
A Dana Gibson lamp and a ridiculously large tub of Aquaphor — I can’t sleep without it on my lips!
Paint Color of Choice:
Bright, bright white.
Favorite Candle:
I have three! Diptyque Baies will always remind me of my first year in New York and right now I have two favorite scents in my boutique: the Shanghai lotus candle is a lovely spring scent and Jonathan Adler’s vodka pop candle, which thankfully smells very little like my collegiate beverage of choice ;).
Your style in three words:
Casual, classic, preppy.
LET’S TALK TRAVEL:
Favorite Vacation Spot To-Date:
Nantucket, always and forever.
Next Destination?
Paris in April! I haven’t been in five years and I practically have my bags packed and ready to go two months out.
If you could go anywhere in a moment’s notice, where would it be?
There are so many places I’m dying to see! Right now, probably somewhere warm and sunny. Australia, Bali, the Maldives…
Palma in the West Village. I would eat every meal there if I could!
Ultimate Sunday Brunch Spot:
Freeman’s. I literally have dreams about their spinach artichoke dip…!
Local Hidden Gem:
North River Lobster Co., a boat on the Hudson River during the summer months where you can eat a lobster roll and watch the sun set. Kind of the perfect night if you ask me!
