Ralph Lauren is a legendary designer. He is most well known for running one of the most successful luxury brands in the world in addition to designing beautiful clothes. However, I personally love him for his home collections.

If you have ever stopped by a Ralph Lauren home store (my favorite is in Greenwich, Connecticut), you know how detailed and grande these stores can be. Ralph Lauren originally launched his home collection back in 1983, well before major design houses even launched home furnishing lines taking his vision of a stylish life one step further.

My mom (obviously) was the first to introduce me to the designer and of course we’ve picked up a thing or two from visiting the Ralph Lauren home stores so here are 7 decorating tips we can all steal from the legendary Ralph Lauren!

“My wife, Ricky, and I were shopping for things for our apartment, and all the sheets were very feminine and covered in roses. I wondered, Why can’t I get something masculine? So I took the Oxford cloth we were using to make shirts, turned it into bedding, and sewed buttons down the side of the pillowcases.” – Ralph Lauren to Arch Digest

10 Ikea Hacks To Freshen Up Your Space In 2016
3

You know I love a good Ikea hack! I’ve completed two ikea hacks myself since moving to New York. Ikea’s Tarva dresser which all it needed was a little paint and new hardware and Ikea’s Rast dresser (not the best picture but you can see it here). Anywho, I’m determined to get some more Ikea hacks under my belt in the New Year but theres only one problem…I’m running out of space! So in the meantime, I thought we’d kick off the new year with 10 Ikea hacks that can easily freshen up your space in 2016!! Because… frugal goals. Am I right?! Let’s get to it.

One. The Ikea floating cardenza is one of my all time favorite ikea hacks. Whether you need to spruce up a hallway, need a piece for under your TV or a dresser in your bedroom, the Ikea floating cadenza is sleek and functional.

Two. Speaking of Ikea’s credenza dresser, Design Love Fest killed her ikea hack! Rather than using the credenza dresser as a floating dresser, she replaced the plastic legs with brass pegs from pretty pegs, company that makes stylish legs just for Ikea furniture! Genius. Last but not least, she ordered a white marble top for the piece to instantly give it a polished, finished look.

Three. The Ikea Kallax shelf is another must-buy from Ikea. The kallax shelf is so dynamic, you can really use it a multitude of different ways. I love how Sugar and Cloth turned her shelf into a bar cart utilizing brass hardware. Yes, please!

Seven. This cobalt blue chair Ikea hack is one I get down with. With a smart paint color choice, a pop of leopard and brass feet, this chair is pretty much unrecognizable from it’s original state.

Eight. Bar carts are the prettiest home accessory in my opinion. This Ikea table turned chic, turquoise bar cart feels anything but mass produced.

Nine. This ikea hack nightstand is a must for fretting up your space in 2016! With a little spray paint and contact paper, you can easily recreate this look in no time.

You know my favorite color combo is blue and white, right? Any shade of blue really… grey-blue, navy blue, sea-blue, you name it. So naturally when I came across navy and white kitchen cabinets having a moment, I had to share!

The Studio McGee design team have done a few kitchen reno’s utilizing navy cabinets on the lowers with white cabinets on the top. It’s pretty safe to say that white subway tile is the perfect backsplash to pull the color coordinating cabinets together. Of course I’m partial to gold hardware but silver does just the trick within these kitchens as well. If only I had my own kitchen to redesign! Would you try this latest kitchen trend?

Gray Malin is one of my all time favorite photographers. His aerial bird’s eye view of the world’s best beaches have made his work a staple in homes across the country. I am such a fan of his work that I knew I had to have one of his pieces for my One Room Challenge! You can see the piece I ended up choosing for the challenge right here. Anywho, I came across Gray Malin’s home tour today and wanted to share with you guys.

What I love most about Gray’s home is that hes mastered the essence of West Palm Beach. With the use of a bold palm tree print in the bedroom, classic orange and white umbrellas on the patio, and touches of navy throughout the entire space, I am dying for an invite to his next dinner party! Also, can we please talk about his custom blue border roman shades for a second? These are so right up my alley…classic decor with a side of prep. Yes, please!

Gray Malin’s kitchen also incorporates one of my favorite kitchen trends of the moment: white kitchen cabinets on top mixed with navy kitchen cabinets on the bottom. I have actually been meaning to do a whole blog post on this trend as I’ve been seeing it pop up more and more as of late!

Be sure to get the look below and shop a few classic Gray Malin pieces below! Happy Shopping. Xo. Lauren
