Get The Look: Sweet Shady Lane’s Classic Entryway

Get-The-Look-Classic-Entry-Way

One of my favorite Instagram accounts to follow is without a doubt Sweet Shady Lane. I absolutely love Heather’s style and the way she’s mastered mixing antique pieces with more modern and traditional pieces.

As I mentioned the other week, I’m on a mission to make some updates to our dinning room & living room spaces over the next few months including our entry way! Right now I’m using Josh’s old desk as an entry way table which I’ve draped with a blue blanket at the moment. Given that this isn’t a long term solution, I’ve decided this is the next vignette I’m going to take on! So I’m currently using Heather’s photo above as inspiration for our entry way.

The main piece I’m looking for is a beautiful antique English 3-drawer pine chest similar to Heather’s 3-drawer chest. It’s actually quite hard to find one for less than $500 dollars! I’ve been scouring Chairish, One Kings Lane and 1st Dibs and I’ve discovered that pine chests can easily range upward of $1,200!! Of course I don’t want to get something that looks “cheap” so we might just have to bite the bullet and invest in this statement piece which I know we’ll be able to use for years to come.

Any who, I love the way this Ballard Designs Mirror looks above the chest I found layered with accessories like this Pottery Barn Hurricane, Elizabeth Thom Oil Painting and this Ballard Designs White Gourd Lamp.

What do you think? I think this is a good start on how I envision the space coming together. Oh, we also bought this Annie Selke Blue and White Striped Rug and I love the way it compliments the entry way!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!! Xo. Lauren

Get The Look | A Preppy & Colorful Entryway
1

Screen Shot 2019-01-20 at 10.03.32 AM

Last week I created a Follow Friday series on my Instagram stories where I highlighted five accounts that I currently find inspiring! Isn’t it fun to discover new accounts to spice up your feed? Don’t worry, if you missed it you can catch up & view on my story highlights! Within the roundup, I included a new-to-me account called Maine House Interiors founded by Australian interior designer Amy Spargo.

It’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of how Amy incorporates blue and white throughout many of the spaces she designs. I particularly loved this preppy and colorful entry way vignette photographed above! Doesn’t it look like a space that belongs in a Palm Beach house or hotel?!

My favorite element in the design has to be the pair of custom ottomans featuring a Tigger Hall fabric. If you love adding custom elements to your home, I highly recommend taking a peek at Etsy shop Liven Up Design! They can easily re-create these ottomans for you either using fabric they have in-house or with a fabric you ship directly to them!

I re-created the look below with a more muted palette but still using blue and white as the main color combination. I found a similar wallpaper as the one photographed above on Wayfair called “Floral Teahouse” wallpaper but I personally loved this blue and white botanical wallpaper a little more (also from Wayfair!). This classic white mirror would pair nicely with just about any entryway table or console. And I love how this table lamp easily compliments the wallpaper. Plus, it’s only $113 dollars!

Last but not least, if you’re in the market for natural fiber rugs, be sure to take a look at Pottery Barn’s selection! They have a wide variety to choose from + many are on sale at the moment. The rug I included in the roundup is the Clayton Natural Fiber Rug.

Would you guys want me to create more “Get The Look” posts?! Let me know in the comments below!

I always find it refreshing discovering new creatives on instagram who don’t fall in to your typical “like-to-know-it” mold or those with 1M+ followers. I actually prefer to follow people who have smaller followings and are “undiscovered.” More often than not, it means they’re creating content because of a specific passion or love for a particular industry. And in this case, Heather’s instagram feed documenting her renovation and complete transformation of her 1937 lake home is a complete GEM. I find every single image Heather posts on instagram inspiring. Whether she’s opening my eyes on how to style a side table vignette or how to perfect an entry way table with vintage books and fresh blooms, I pretty much always save Heather’s instagram posts for my personal design files. Her style actually reminds me a lot of my moms — a well curated mix of flea market finds paired seamlessly with traditional and modern pieces (hi mom!).

This Beautiful Seaside Beach House Is All Of The #Goals

Welcome-To-The-Beach-Sign-Seaside-Florda

A few months ago I discovered Kate Marker Interiors on Instagram. As soon I came across her feed I automatically thought to myself “have I been living under a rock?!” I absolutely love Kate’s work AND this seaside beach house she decorated in Seaside, Forida. From the drop-dead gorgeous kitchen to the well-appointed details and finishes found throughout the home, this seaside beach house is definitely one to add to the design files.

In case you’re not familiar, Seaside (also known as 30A) is a beach town located on the Gulf Coast in Florida. My best friends from college and I have been visiting this cute little town for over 8 years now. With it’s beautiful beaches, casual atmosphere & delicious restaurants, it’s one of our favorite places to do our annual girls trip! We recently visited earlier this year for Kristin’s bachelorette party and it’s amazing how much Seaside has been built up since our last visit!

Below are a few more images to peruse through + product links below to help you get the look. If you had a beach house, where it would it be?! Ready, set, leave a comment below!! Xo. Lauren
