Hello, pretties! Happy Thursday. It’s been raining here in New York for the past two days – talk about miz. Whenever we have cold and wet weather like this my first reaction in the morning is revert to the biggest, most comfiest sweater I own. Most of the times I reach for one of my classic cable knit sweaters. Although I own this type of sweater in just about every color, there is something about a white or off-white cable knit sweater to get you through the various seasons of the year.
Whether you prefer a single, spiraling cable or an intricate braid, there are so many different takes on the iconic sweater. From season to season, the cable-knit sweater remains to be a wardrobe staple. I also love the fact that it can add a “borrowed-from-the-boys” element to a woman’s style.
Hello! Happy Monday. How was your weekend? Not much going on this week (thank goodness) but it’s officially cold here – like pea coat, scarf and boots cold. Crazy, right?
Today I bring you a pretty little roundup of dresses to fall into this season. Piperlime has a killer selection – I’m particularly loving the “Piperlime Collection” pieces which you can shop 25% off when you share the sale with 5 friends. They are super cute and a great price point. Besides the collection dresses, there are too many good sweaters to shop this season – can we talk about this sweater for a second? I’m pretty sure I need it for Killington. I also recently picked up this, this and this last weekend. I’ve seriously got to cool it for the next few weeks. Anyways, have a lovely Monday! Xo. Lauren
TGIF, lovelies! How was everyone’s week? Sorry things were a little quiet around here. Sometimes there isn’t enough hours in a day, you know what I mean? This weekend I’m excited for a little R&R. Looking forward to catching up with Meghan and Rich. Also, Hallie & Jess are back from Paris – can’t wait to hear about their trip. #wanderlust. Today I bring you my favorite reads from around the web this week. Enjoy!
Did you know that 550 women start a new business every day? I came across this kickstarter campaign for a new documentary called Dream Girl which is currently in production. The documentary hopes to shine light on women business leaders and entrepreneurs. I can’t wait to see the full documentary but you can learn a little bit more about production below! Also, thanks to Martha for sharing this lovely story!
Everything you need to know about Ebola via the New York Times. As I’m originally from Cleveland, this is whole Ebola saga is hitting a little too close to home.
Just picked up these skinny jeans from Madewell last night. They are sooo comfy (also got them in the deep plum). And of course I had to get this oversized plaid shirt. #hellofall. Shop 30% off Madewell’s sale section with promo code ‘pickmeup’ at check out.
Obsessed with this light fall look. More style inspiration here.
Some friends and I are looking to plan a trip to Killington, VT for NYE. Has anyone been or have any recommendations? We’re thinking about staying here.
As Monday’s mark a fresh start to a new work week, I thought it’d be fun to share a few offline sources that help drive my creativity day-in and day-out. I also love to hear from friends and other creative professionals on what helps them stay motivated, other than your go-to websites and magazines! So without further ado, here are a few things that help keep things fresh and inspiring around here.
1. Restaurants
I’m pretty sure I take living in New York City for granted. The number of delicious restaurants here can truly be overwhelming but one of my favorite parts about trying out a new coffee shop or brunch spot are…wait for it….the interiors (shocking, right?). From the material of the tables to the finishes on the pendant lighting, I love seeing what materials are used where in the various restaurants around the city. A few spots I’ve been loving as of late: Claudette, Cookshop, Tertulia, Carbone, Buvette and Perla.
One of my favorite things to do offline, is to simply walk the different neighborhoods of New York. I love the West Village, Chelsea and both the Upper East and Upper West Sides. There are so many charming corners, tree-lined streets, and so much more. They also make for the perfect Instagram.

3. Retail Stores
When I’m truly in a creative rut, I love shopping on 5th Avenue. Insert Club Monaco‘s flagship store. I’m not sure who they hired to design the store but the aesthetic is spot on: over-sized mirrors, built-in bookshelves, fresh flowers…everywhere…+ let’s not forget about the florist on hand, and a coffee shop right in the store. I love everything about the shopping experience at this flagship! There are basically hundreds of stores that are well designed sure to help stir up some creativity.
One of my favorite things to do is pick up $10 dollar market flowers. Not only do they instantly brighten my apartment but it’s fun to switch up the type of flowers week in and week out!
5. Travel
I miss the summer so much basically due to all of the traveling I get to do on the weekends. The Hampton’s is one of my favorite locations simply because of all the nautical instagrams waiting to be taken – can you blame a girl? Beach getaways are also a must! I’m hoping to get more travel on the books over the long Christmas break (more on that soon)!
