The marvelous Martinique Banana Leaf and Dorothy Draper’s Brazilliance wallpaper are two of my all-time favorite wallpapers. Both designs are proof that wallpaper can make all the difference in a room.

I wrote about my recent obsession with palm trees earlier this week so I thought it was only fitting to follow up with a post on the Martinuque & Brazilliance Wallpaper, right?!

The martinique wall paper is the iconic leaf print design that graces the walls at the historic Beverly Hills Hotel and Indochine NYC. The Brazilliance wallpaper (also equally as iconic) was designed by Dorothy Draper and was famously used in the Greenrbiar Hotel in West Virginia. Although both wallpapers are very similar, Dorothy distinguished her design with clusters of grapes.

Wallpapers can be tricky to use within a home or apartment but what I love about both designs is that they have proven to be timeless. The martinique wallpaper has been around for 60 years and has the ability to create an exotic feel.

Since both designs are loud, I would personally opt to use them in a powder room or closet given the scale and size of their leafs. They are so fun, aren’t they?. Smaller rooms give you a chance to bolder then you normally would be in a larger room like your dinning or living room. What’s your favorite wallpaper? Happy Friday! Lauren

East Coast Vibes
3

Whenever I think of homes on the East Coast, I automatically think of relaxed spaces. To me, the most important thing in a home is that you create a space where you feel comfortable, stylish and surround yourself with things you love.

Today I’m embracing those East Coast Vibes and rounding up a few of my favorite things of the moment.

6 Preppy Bedrooms I Can Totally Get Onboard With
4

Similar to how I feel about my personal style, I’ve noticed that over the past few years that my design style is also ever-evolving. I don’t know if it’s living on the East Coast that has dramatically swayed my opinion (or finally realizing my mom has been right about navy and white all these years) but it’s safe to say I’m inspired by east coast charm, preppy emblems, blue hues, crisp linens, and 1960’s West Palm Beach.

A few examples:

While I was browsing Pinterest the other day, I noticed myself pinning bedrooms that perfectly fall within my preferred categories (you can take a peek at my Design Eye Candy Board here). So with that, today I bring you 6 Preppy Bedrooms I can Totally Get On Board With!

Garnet Hill

Did you know Lily Pulitzer created a bedding collection for Garnet Hill? I’m really quite obsessed with the options available, particularly the Let’s Cha Cha and Hotty Pink– at least this collection won’t sell out in 24 hours!

Coastal Living

I love the feel of this bedroom. The crisp white linens looks so inviting and I love the scalloped detailing. The palm tree print curtains provide a dose of that West Palm Beach vibe.

What I love most about this bedroom is the silhouette and pattern of the headboard mixed with the floral and white duvet. This is mix and match perfection.

Now THIS bedroom screams West Palm Beach to me. The print on the headboard mixed with the pink accents is on point.

I’ve seen this room circulate on Pinterest for a couple of years now. The stripes on the wall mixed with the vintage mirror and sconces make for an inviting bedroom.

Summer Wind

Last but not least, this is my definition of an effortless preppy bedroom. One can never go wrong with a navy and white monogram pillow. You know what I mean?

Prep In My Step
5

Spring is in full effect today here in New York! The weather is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn’t be more excited for all the upcoming spring and summer activities I have planned.

Today I’m most definitely breaking the rules and wearing all white before Memorial Day. Can you blame a girl? Do you ever do this?

The team over at Tommy Hilfiger were nice enough to send me a few pieces from their latest Magalog so I couldn’t NOT wear everything right away!! Duh. Have you heard of their Tommy Hilfiger Magalog yet? It’s their FIRST digital and print editorialized magazine full of spring and summer goodness. When I came across the Searape Cricket Sweater I knew it would instantly put a little prep in my step over these next few weeks. Every summer I’m on the hunt for the perfect “summer” sweater. I usually stick to cable knits or over-sized white or cream sweaters but I think this one will do the trick. It will be a great summer wardrobe staple for those cool summer days on the beach or nights around a fire.

I paired the cricket sweater with my white J.Brand jeans and a button up underneath. One of my favorite spring/summer looks is white on white. For some reason, I find it so easy and effortless. You can find the cricket sweater right here and be sure to check out the Magalog right this way.

In other news, I mentioned this on Friday but I will speaking at the Lovely Happenings Lifestyle Conference this Saturday at 2pm! Will I see you there?! Get your tickets HERE. Xo. Lauren
