Where To Stay, Eat & Shop in Paris
1

Taking a quick break from all of the holiday content to finally share where we stayed, ate and shopped in Paris last month! This was my 5th trip to Paris and I don’t think I’ve ever really shared my favorite spots in the city of lights. Paris is one of those cities where you don’t need a full itinerary. It’s such a great walking city that you can easily explore all of the charming neighborhoods on foot discovering amazing french bistros, bakeries, shops and main attractions as you go.

We only had three days in Paris this trip but we truly made the most of our time hitting some old favorites while also making time for new shops and restaurants.

Where To Stay In Paris

There are so many amazing hotels in Paris it’s truly such a hard decision whenever we’re planning a trip.

I’ve stayed at Hotel Mayfair which is  located in the 1st – very close to the Louvre, amazing shopping and great restaurants. I think it’s important to note that it’s located on a quaint and quiet street so it doesn’t feel overwhelming by any means. I stayed here a few years ago when one of my best girlfriends got married in Paris. It’s such a charming hotel with great service. We would have stayed here again but they were sold out one of the nights we were in town!

I’ve also worked with Haven in Paris in the past and loved both of our rental apartment experiences, too! I loved this apartment from 2014.

This time around, however, we knew we wanted to stay in a hotel in our favorite neighborhood of Saint Germain. Insert — Hotel De’La Abbey.

You guys — we LOVED our stay at Hotel De’La Abbey. My girlfriend Nan recommended the hotel from a previous trip she had taken for work. I knew it was going to be good based on her recommendation but I didn’t realize how much we were absolutely going to love it.

The only way I can describe it is that it feels like a home away from home. It’s located on a very quiet street & sits back from the road a bit so you don’t even know it’s there. The interiors are everything you would want from a small, french hotel & the service was amazing. Throughout our entire stay we couldn’t stop talking about how much we were loving it. Next trip we are going to upgrade the level of room and stay for longer.

If you’re looking to splurge on a hotel during your next trip — the Four Seasons George V & The Ritz are both amazing properties worth booking.

Where To Eat In Paris

A few of our favorite restaurants in Paris:

  • Chez Georges – An absolute MUST visit. Call ahead to make a reservation and be sure to order the steak frites with the mustard bernaise sauce.
  • Le Hibou – Always our first stop for lunch when we arrive in Paris. Order the caesar salad with chicken.
  • Cafe de Flore – Great for lunch or dinner. Grab a table outside even if it’s cold out – they have heat warmers & it makes for fun people watching.
  • Brasserie Lipp – Another delicious french bistro in Saint Germain.
  • Le Bonaparte – Surprise, another french bistro perfect for before or after dinner drinks outside.
  • Hotel Costes – One of our favorite spots for lunch when we’re shopping in the 1st. It’s a bit hidden so google the address.
  • Ralphs – An oldie but a goodie. Call ahead to make a reservation.
  • Hemmingway Bar – Quite touristy but fun to visit for their famous dirty martini. We recommend arriving right at 6 when doors open or you’re likely to wait for a table.
  • Chez Julian – We ate here last trip and loved it.

Other restaurants that are still on our must-try list:

Where To Shop In Paris

There are so many great shops in Paris but a few of my favorite highlights from this trip include:

  • Michelle Aragon – This store is a hidden gem. Michelle doesn’t have a website or email address but you can seriously spend a good amount of time browsing her provencal linens, antique oyster plates and more.
  • Gien – Located close to Michelle Araon, I loved visiting Gien for the first time.
  • Antoinette Poisson
  • Merci
  • Diptyque – Visit the original Diptyque store in Saint Germain and pick up one of your favorite scents!
  • Shopping Neighborhoods: Saint Germain, Le Marais & Place Vendom
