Quick Apartment Update + My New Found Love For Antique English Pine Chests
0

Ok, you guys — we made some progress on the apartment front!!

We finally decided on a chandelier for above our dining table. We went with the Andover Mills Perseus 6-light Chandelier from Wayfair. I was a little unsure at first because I originally wanted a designer light from Aerin or E.F. Chapmen but given that we’re trying to save for a wedding this year, spending over $1,000 on a chandelier wasn’t exactly “in budget”!!

Anywho, our handyman hung the chandelier last weekend and I have to admit, I love the end product!! The cast iron finish pairs nicely with the cast iron base of our RH dinning table. I also layered on Ballard Designs small white linen shades which compliment the white linen curtains in our living room. Given the dining room flows into the living room & it’s all one open space, I love how the finishes & materials are working together. Now all we have to do is install our dimmer and we’ll be all set!

Next up on the apartment to-do list is our entry way vignette.

Right now we are using Josh’s old desk as our entryway table with a Pottery Barn table cloth draped over at the moment. It’s great for storage as we’re hiding a bunch of bags underneath, however, it’s certainly not a long term solution.

Insert my new found quest for the perfect Antique English Pine Chest as our entryway replacement!

I’ve been scouring the internet these past few weeks but I have not found anything worthwhile. And yes, I’ve looked at both Charish and 1st Dibs but everything is quite out of our price range!

I’ve actually had more success searching #pinechest on Instagram and discovering various antique stores across the country with beautiful options including — English Traditions (my favorite), The Plantation Shop, and Parc Monceau Antiques to name a few! I ideally am looking for a pine chest with classic round knobs, key wholes and round legs at the bottom. Below are a few of my favorites I’ve bookmarked!

So – what do you think? Are you a fan of english pine chests? Are they worth the investment?! Help!!! 🙂 Xo. Lauren

Project Greenwich Village Living Room | Moodboard
0

Studio-McGee-Hutch

Hellooo, friends! And happy sunday. It’s been a minute since I last posted an apartment update for our current Greenwich Village Project. Since getting engaged a few months ago, wedding planning has since taken over so our apartment projects have stalled a bit! However, we’ve been hosting friends over for dinner more recently so I’m on a mission to get a chandelier for above our dinning table a new buffet / sideboard for our living room.

If you take a peek at this blog post, you’ll see we have two large walls on either side of the fireplace. Right now my focus is the right side of the fireplace which currently has my fiance’s old media console which is way too low for the space with two lamps and too many coffee table books to count on top. I would love to find a buffet that fits the space much better and to also help with storage.

SO today I’m sharing two mood boards I created to hopefully help us decide.

The first buffet I found is from Restoration Hardware which matches our dinning table. So if we’re ever looking to sell these pieces, we could essentially sell as a set. The second buffet I found is from Pottery Barn which has a much better price point and I also love the look. Hopefully we’ll also be getting artwork from McGee & Co and I also found these white table lamps from Ballard Designs that we could style on top.

Help — Which buffet is your favorite?!

Fall Bedding Refresh with Serena and Lily

Serena-And-Lilly-Fall-Bedding-Refresh

Serena and Lily is one of my all-time favorite brands. If I could live in one of their catalogs, I totally would!! Their fresh approach to furniture, home decor and bedding makes the online retailer a must shop in my opinion.

Today I’m so excited to partner with their team on my fall bedding refresh! In case you’re just tuning in, earlier this year my boyfriend and I moved in to a beautiful new apartment in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. Our current goal is to finish the bedroom before the end of the year before moving on to the living room. We’ve made some great progress over the past two months so we’re slowly but surely getting there! Thank goodness.

When looking to update our bedding for fall, I wanted to achieve a look that was classic, elegant and serene. Typically I gravitate toward navy or light blue bedding but now that it’s officially fall, I thought I would switch out the colors! After taking a peek at Serena and Lily’s selection, I loved the grays incorporated throughout and thought the color would work nicely over these next few months while also complimenting other key pieces in our room including our night stand lamps and new Annie Selke rug!
 gift
Insert Serena and Lily’s Savoy Embroidered Duvet Cover and Standard Shams — in fog. The embroidery is a classic design that will be sure to last for years to come and their color ‘fog’ is a beautiful, crisp light gray – I can’t believe how much I love it!Whenever I’m refreshing my bedding for a different season, I always like to mix patterns and textiles. Instead of going for the savoy embroidered sheet set to perfectly match the duvet cover, I went with the Sanibel Sheet Set which also comes in fog! After picking the sheets, I was able to select the coverlet and the solana euro shams. The shams have frayed edges and look so plush on the bed. To complete the look and compliment all of the grays in our bedroom, we layered the bed with the Amalfi Quilt — isn’t she pretty?

I can’t wait to show you guys the full bedroom tour over the next few months! You can shop all of my bedding below as well as other bedding favorites from Serena and Lily under ‘Get The Look’. Happy Shopping! Xo. Lauren

Project Greenwich Village | Bedroom Update

The-Gold-Coast-New-York-Greenwich-Village-Apartment

It’s hard to believe we’ve been in our new Greenwich Village apartment for 8 months now! I haven’t blogged in a few weeks so I thought I would share a quick update on where we are in the design process. I’m on a serious mission to finish our bedroom before 2018 comes to an end… fingers crossed we can make it happen!

Let’s get to it, shall we?

Bedroom-Update-The-Shade-Store

Our custom white linen shades from the Shade Store are officially installed. Now I’m on to layering with hardware and drapes for the three windows. The corner window is very tricky but luckily the Shade Store has a professional team that can help us with every single detail. In case you’re not familiar, the Shade Store has a wide variety of designer fabrics to choose from for both custom shades & drapes. I personally love the One Kings Lane collection and currently leaning toward the lattice bamboo fabric in light blue!

In furniture and decor news, we finally received our new Rae 8-drawer dresser and Aerin flush mount from One Kings Lane!! I was living without a dresser for the first few months we were in our apartment so having this big, beautiful dresser has been so helpful. My closet is no longer over flowing!! What I love most about the dresser is that it comes with a jewelry tray in the top right drawer. If you’re in the market for a neutral dresser with a ton of storage, I highly recommend! I would also make sure to order with the white glove delivery service – One Kings Lane made the delivery process seamless! I am struggling a bit selecting a second dresser to pair with it but currently have my eye on this Avery dresser from Pottery Barn Kids. Do you like the matte white or brushed fog?

I’m a HUGE fan of Aerin Lauder and specifically love her lighting collection. This flush mount is the first piece from her collection we have in our apartment and I’m hoping we can invest in a few other pieces for our living room like this Lebon floor lamp. For our night stands I’m thinking about ordering these Fountaine table lamps which also come in cast iron and white finishes!

Eventually we’ll upgrade to a king bed but this might have to be a 2019 investment – I’m currently loving this Toulouse bed from Pottery Barn or this similar version from Restoration Hardware. Last but not least, we certainly cannot finish our bedroom without a rug from Annie Selke! I have my eye on this Ivory wool rug or this petite diamond rug — which do you prefer?

I find it interesting that I’m gravitating so much to natural wood & white finishes in this apartment. A drastic departure from my navy blue walls in my UES bedroom f you remember! There is so much natural light that comes in through the corner window in our bedroom that I can’t help but want to make sure the room feels light, bright and airy! Do you find your design aesthetic evolving over time? I’d love to hear! You can shop all of the pieces in the round up below. Xo. Lauren
